OVERVIEW
The course is designed to prepare students to pass the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology “Cosmetology” licensing examination, and to help the student obtain the knowledge and skills needed to begin a career in the field of cosmetology.
Like all of our curriculum, our Cosmetology Program is built on the strong, technically-based foundation of TIGI cutting and coloring techniques, fashion-forward make up techniques, and Milady nails and skin — and that’s just our foundation!
HIGHLIGHTS
- TIGI‑Based Cutting & Coloring Foundation
- Fashion‑Forward Makeup Training
- Milady Nails & Skin Curriculum
- Full Sanitation, Chemical, and Salon Operations Training
YOU'LL MASTER
Cosmetology training begins with strict hygiene and safety practices because every service depends on them. Students learn proper tool sterilization, workstation disinfection, chemical handling, and how to recognize when a service should not be performed due to scalp or skin conditions. These fundamentals are emphasized as essential for both client protection and state board readiness.
Hair services make up the largest portion of cosmetology education. Students practice foundational and advanced cutting methods (like blunt cuts, layering, and precision work), styling techniques (blowouts, curling, straightening), and color application including highlights, balayage, and corrective color. Programs also cover texture services such as perms, relaxers, and smoothing treatments.
Strong communication skills are taught early because they directly affect service outcomes and client satisfaction. Students learn how to conduct full consultations, assess hair history, set realistic expectations, and maintain professionalism. These skills help future stylists build trust, manage time effectively, and create a positive salon experience.
